Der Begriff hat seinen Ursprung im persischen farmān und bedeutet so viel wie „Befehl“, „Verordnung“ oder „Auftrag“. Der Begriff Ferman nimmt im jesidischen Sprachgebrauch die Bezeichnung für „Verfolgungen“ und „Pogrom“ an. „Ferman 74“ bezeichnet den systematischen Völkermord am jesidischen Volk durch Anhänger des Islamischen Staats, der mit dem Überfall auf das Dorf Kotscho im Shingal-Gebiet am 03.08.2014 begann.

The term has its origin in the Persian farmān and translates as "command," "decree," or "order." The term ferman takes on the meaning of "persecutions" and "pogrom" in Yazidi usage. "Ferman 74" refers to the systematic genocide of the Yazidi people by supporters of the Islamic State that began with the raid on the village of Kocho in the Shingal region on 03/08/2014.
